The company was founded in Halle on 2.1.1926 and named Rostschutz GmbH until the 30es. At first the company constructed zinc coating plants particularly for the manufacture of highly galvanized wires. Many European plants were made by Keller & Bohacek. Besides this main activity until 1939 ADACID Pickling Inhibitors for the steel industry as well as KEBOCOR Corrosion Inhibitors were already developped and produced.
The second World War forced many companies to change their brass tubes being urgently required by the armaments industry against simple steel tubes. As brass still could be treated with boiling hydrochloric acid without the necessity of applying inhibitors this procedure was impossible for steel. This circumstance lead to the introduction of particularly the LITHSOLVENT Inhibitor for chemical cleanings in the sugar industry.
The chemical cleaning of small industrial plants, above all, however, boilers of power stations prepared the ground for the development of water treatment chemicals, an industrial field which was highly neglected in the former Soviet Zone of Occupation.
In 1946 Keller & Bohacek GmbH was founded in Braunschweig for the activities in the Western Zone of Occupation. The main clientele was the steel and sugar industries. The business relations were extended to Belgium, Switzerland and France whereby large projects for the construction of zinc coating plants could be realized. In 1952 the company moved to Düsseldorf where in the meantime a new manufacturing plant had been built.
In 1957 KEBO FRANCE was founded in Paris. There priorities were at first set up in the business with the steel industry, then however, with intensified efforts the chemical cleaning in sugar factories.
In the 60es and 70es the main activities of Keller & Bohacek were concentrated in the field of chemical cleaning of petrochemical plants particularly those for the production of ammonia and ethylene. In the area of power stations pickling works at turbine oil systems of large boilers were carried out. Besides the traditional markets in Europe now also the business with customers abroad e.g. in Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Chile, Cuba a.s.o. was activated.
In 1975 the long lasting experience in the field of plant cleaning highly contributed to the development of a cleaning procedure for sugar factories and consequently succeeded in the development of an efficient scale prevention system with the application of polyelectrolyte formulations (KEBO-DS) for such production processes.
This conception was optimized during the practical use at site for many years and is nowadays applied in nearly all larger European sugar factories.
Parallel to the development of products for chemical companies, steel industry and sugar factories Keller & Bohacek extended their product program of cooling and boiler feed water chemicals. The existing experience with protection against corrosion further succeeded in the development of efficient water conditioning agents and scale control aids.
Keller & Bohacek supported by their subsidiaries in Cottbus and Paris as well as worldwide operating agencies and representations consequently disposes of a product program as well as the necessary Know-How to offer solutions for problems of different kinds such as e.g.:
scale control aids, scale inhibitors, cleaning agents and defoamers for the sugar industry, acid inhibitors and cleaners for industrial cleanings, pickling inhibitors, degreasing agents and demulsifying agents for metal treatment.
